The spine is of central importance in the practice of yoga. This workshop will combine a practical yoga class with an exploration of the anatomy of the spine. Using overhead projections and 3D models Chris will bring to life the anatomy of the spine, making it directly relevant to yoga practice. You will discover the causes of back pain and 'sciatica', how a 'slipped disc' occurs, learn how yoga postures develop healthy discs and about the relationship of the spine to the nervous system. You will understand exactly how the spine moves in backbends, twists and forward bends. We will also discuss how to avoid common back and neck strains, with time to talk about individual cases. Chris regularly teaches yoga anatomy throughout the country with over 25 years experience as a yoga teacher. As a registered osteopath he has a lot of experience treating yoga practitioners.
